In the midst of a year that looks nothing like the previous ones- with a global pandemic, elections, and other trying situations- the Christmas season has come just as it always does. Like everything else in 2020 our Christmas celebration will look different. But just as every Christmas since the birth of our King, we will celebrate Jesus’ birth together!
Our teams in each building are putting effort and attention into decorating our homes. We want to be sure that the residents have visual reminders of the Christmas season even while they are more restricted in their homes than previous years.
The staff has also been working hard to develop celebratory Christmas events that fit within the requirements of being socially distanced. At both Maple Woods and the Care Center the teams have put together a holiday walk through, where residents and staff can walk through a room decorated with scenes from Christmas. At the Care Center there will be a photo booth where residents can take a photo along the way and either keep it in their room or they can choose to add it to the Holiday Memory Board. At The Warm Friend plans are being made with different options depending on the state of our COVID related restrictions. Come what may, Resthaven will celebrate Christmas!
As we near the end of a year like no other in recent history, we are grateful for reasons to celebrate. We are thankful for the opportunity to celebrate the birth of our Lord and for the creativity of the staff and residents who have worked hard to make the celebrations special.
