Resthaven Donor Profile:
As one who spent most of her life in Holland, Rose Albers knew about the quality of care givien by Resthaven. She would visit friends at the Care Center who were recovering from surgery or needed skilled nursing care. But her feelings about Resthaven became much more personal when her husband of 55 years, Dr. Robert Albers, required more care than she could provide at home and became a resident at the Care Center.
"The staff made Bob feel very comfortable, even as his physical limitations increased over the months while a resident," says Rose. "The facilities were always neat and tidy, and the caregivers kind and compassionate."
Construction of the new addition began while Dr. Albers was a resident, but he didn't live to see it completed, as he passed away in January 2011. "Bob would have loved the new space," says Rose. "It's so warm and welcoming, and provides such beautiful areas for Bible studies, hymn sings, and conversation with family and friends."
When presented with the opportunity to donate a brick supporting Resthaven's capital campaign the help fund the Care Center addition, Rose was one of the first to contribute. She purchased a brick in memory of Bob, and then purchase additional bricks in support of Resthaven. "I wanted to demonstrate how much I appreciated the care given to Bob, and how much Resthaven has come to mean to me and my family."
